NO ! Can anyone show the American taxpayers the study or the findings that supports this assumed infrastructure crisis ! How can Obama and his cronies just pull figures out of the air , throw them against the wall and saying "be a solution" ; and hope they stick ?? The federal government is the only entity that is benefiting and creating jobs for itself from the Porkulus Package ! How many of the "firms" that get the infrastructure repair contracts will be "Unionized " companies & firms (payback) ????? Maybe all of them ??? This is just the "Mother Hen Government" taking`the loyal adopted "Hatchlings" and covering them from the financial crisis that the rest of us have to face !! All for future voting liberal democratic blocks !

Maybe one instance of bridge collapse isn't enough to justify spending $ 200 billion on infrastructure. Maybe that's true.

But, have you ever sat for hours in the traffic at rush hour in, well, any of our country's big cities? Our transportation system is woefully inadequate for the volume if handles. Boston, Los Angeles, Detroit, Atlanta, San Antonio, all of these cities have transportation systems built to handle significantly lower levels of traffic. The ensuing traffic causes a waste of time, money, energy, and pollution.

Compare this to what's happening in other countries. In Japan, they have high-speed trains that go 150 mph -- and you don't lose wireless connectivity anywhere in the country. Even deep underground in the subway and in the country between cities.

In India, they're building a 1400-km superhighway system connecting all of their largest cities. In some places, it is cheaper and faster in India to take high-speed train than to fly.

America has to compete with this. As I understand it, Obama has also spoken of plans to further energy independence.

In this flattening world, we can't afford not to develop our infrastructure, because the rest of the world is getting faster, cheaper, and easier.

Are you familiar with the I35 bridge in Minnesota? Yes, our infrastructure is that bad. Additionally, do you realize the system we use for flight controls has been the same since the 1950's? The Controllers confirmed flight 93 was down from another pilot telling him he saw the smoke.

Seriously, this was on the Dallas news this morning and what they are going to do really needs to be done, but the funny part is that part of the road is going to be a toll road. So we're using our tax dollars to stimulate the economy by building a toll road.

I am totally with you over different energy sources.

It is said that in the U.S. over 50% of the bridges are deficient. Some are not even safe enough to cross with heavy truck loads.

It is also said that 44 states are broke.

200 Billion will help. But it really is just another bandaid. We need over 1 trillion dollars to fix the bridges and highways.
